The International Research Centre of the University of Peradeniya launched it’s biannual Magazine “Hanthana Vision” in a ceremony held in the Peradeniya Last month(May 2015). The launching ceremony was graced by the Vice Chairman of the UGC Prof. P.S.M. Gunaratne. This magazine, available both in print and online, is designed to highlight and share the research activities carried out by the academic staff of the University of Peradeniya.
The 19 member editorial board headed by Professor. D.N Karunaratne undertakes the compilation of articles for the magazine. The first issue of the “Hanthana Vision” Magazine highlights the research activities carried out towards solving national issues in the community including Health related issues, Sanitary issues, Womens welfare, and cultural heritage of the country.
Speaking exclusively to The Sri Lankan Scientist, Prof. D.N. Karunaratne, the Editor in Chief of the magazine stated “A research magazine is the instrument which brings out the research outcomes to the general public. Many of the Universities the world over have a magazine of this nature. It is time that we in Sri Lanka tell our public what we have done for their benefit utilizing public funds in many instances. Since the University of Peradeniya is a pioneer in the research arena, we are proud to attempt the publication of this magazine as a biannual event”.
This will be a great initiative to the Sri Lankan Research culture as this paves the way to better sharing of scientific information among the community as a whole. The digital version of the magazine is available on the International Research Center website and can be accessed through this link: Hanthana Vision
