The Project:

The National Science Foundation funded research project on breast cancer. The project is aiming to identify and validate molecular prognostic markers for women with pre- and post- menopausal breast cancer.

The candidate:

We are looking for a highly motivated and focused individual with a first class (hons) or a second class upper degree in Medical Sciences, Allied Health Science or Biological Sciences to be registered as a MPhil candidate at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Peradeniya for a two years period. Previous experience in clinical pathology, molecular biology, or any allied discipline is desirable but not a must.


The position will be a full time paid based on NSF, research assistants guide lines. MPhil. Registration fees, stipend and travelling will be covered. Short-term overseas training is also available. The MPhil. Degree will be awarded by The Faculty of Medicine, University of Peradeniya.

The Research Team and the Research Environment:

Our team comprises of both clinician and scientists and we will be employing latest molecular biological tools as diagnostic and prognostic marker/s. You will be able to work in a very attractive research environment with the latest modern laboratory facilities.
